Fresh, Sustainable, Genuine Design from Italy
New York, NY (November 2010) For the past 20 years, M2L has introduced the best in genuine modern European design to the American market. Joining M2L’s cadre of iconic design heavyweights including Artifort, Montis and Walter Knoll, the company is proud to announce that it now also distributes the Italian manufacturer Arper. From seating to tables, the company is well regarded for its strong contemporary aesthetic while taking considerable strides towards reducing its environmental footprint.
In 2006, the Italian manufacturer obtained the ISO 14001 certification for environmental management. Then in 2008, the company re-evaluated its entire chair production process, resulting in GREENGUARD certification for all of its seating products. Due to recycling content and low-emitting materials, all of Arper’s seating products also contribute to the LEED credit system for buildings.
New fall introductions from Arper (available through M2L) include:
Pix is a system of poufs that marries Arper style with the creativity of Iwasaki Design Studio. Clean, essential lines define the soft, generous volumes of Pix, which is available as a one-, three- or five-seater pouf with a wide range of colors and adjustable feet.

Following the much-heralded opening of their new flagship store on Manhattan’s chic Madison Avenue, M2L (www.m2lcollection.com) welcomes this exciting addition to their professional team. As a former architect at Foster + Partners with years of design experience on projects worldwide, Stroud brings a unique perspective to the company as well as strong ties to the architectural community. He is available to share professional knowledge, insight and resource information only a practicing architect will have at his disposal.
Eric Stroud was awarded a Bachelor of Architecture Degree with Distinction from Iowa State University in 2005. He interned with the prestigious Foster + Partners (UK) before earning a Masters of Architecture Degree from The University of Pennsylvania as a Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Scholar. He returned to Foster + Partners, transferring to the New York office to work on The New York Public Library assignment in 2008. Along with commissions in Vancouver, Saudi Arabia and Budapest, Mr. Stroud was involved in the building project at The Yale School of Management.
Stroud’s passion for furniture and desire to work for a premier company naturally led him to M2L. Drawn to the company’s design management philosophy and focus on Genuine Design, he feels his experience as an architect brings a fresh perspective to M2L. “Having been on the design side of the table, I can relate to the creative decision making process and provide recommendations structured around their concepts,” notes Stroud.

Featuring New Pieces from Artifort, Walter Knoll, e15 and KFF
New York, NY (June 2010) For the past 20 years, M2L (www.m2lcollection.com) has delivered the best in contemporary European design to the American market. Sourcing furniture created by iconic designers such as Pierre Paulin and Eileen Gray to emerging design stars like Eoos and Stefan Diez, the architecture and design community has come to rely on M2L for its refined selection of authentic modern design. This season’s additions include reintroductions of old classics from Walter Knoll and Artifort, minimalist and modern pieces from e15 and comfortable conversation pieces from KFF among other designer favorites.
Little Tulip is an elegant yet expressive armchair. It was originally designed by Pierre Paulin in 1965 and has just been reintroduced with the original cross base.
Swamp is an upholstered fauteuil designed by Michiel van der Kley to provide the ultimate relaxing experience. The collection features a one-person armchair, a snug loveseat and a pouffe that makes an ideal footstool or extra seat. The entire Swamp family utilizes spiral springs and foam and is upholstered in two contrasting fabrics – a bonus being that the outside fabric does not need to be a furniture fabric.
CT08 VIER is a smart, symmetrical and stylish table designed by Philipp Mainzer. Composed of four slabs of 10 mm thick solid colored tempered glass in dark blue or smoke grey, it can serve as a side table, storage unit or bedside table.
CH04 HOUDINI is a new chair family developed by contemporary German designer Stefan Diez to perfectly complement all e15 tables. It’s distinctive silhouette and pared down proportions result in a modern yet timeless wooden chair fitting for residential and contract settings. It is available as a side chair or chair with armrests in oak veneered plywood in clear, jet black, signal white and traffic grey lacquered finishes as well as custom colors.
TA17 LONDON is Philipp Mainzer’s contemporary interpretation of the classic TA04 BIGFOOT. Designed without a frame, it’s tabletop and legs are made from 60 mm thick oiled solid oak with filled-in cracks, resulting in a balanced yet striking harmony of proportions. It is especially suited as a dining table.
SF05 BESS is a two-seater sofa with an upholstered seat and flexible oak-veneered plywood back designed by Stefan Diez. The high-grade upholstery consists of a body of NO SAG-springs and a well-balanced combination of foam material. With its two available seating depths (22” and 34”), the sofa is well suited for both private and contract interiors.
EC02 BESSY, designed by Stefan Diez, is a space-saving lounge chair reminiscent of a cocktail lounger. Made from flexible oak veneered plywood, it has a comfortable high back and round upholstered seat, making it suitable for private use as well as in hotel lobbies and bars. BESSY is also available as a stool without a backrest.
EC03 EUGENE is a generously proportioned lounge chair designed by Stefan Diez. Made from flexible oak-veneered lacquered plywood, it features a high back, deep seat shell and sloped back legs. Its round, bent wooden back offers ample comfort without padding.
ST10 JEAN is a bar stool designed by Stefan Diez with a circumferential brim, which provides comfort and support when seated. Between the front two legs runs a cross beam with an embedded plastic profile, which acts as a foot rest and gives the stool stability. It is made from oak-veneered lacquered plywood and available in two heights that make it suitable for contract as well as private use at a kitchen counter.
Black Series is a special edition of classic Walter Knoll products including the 369 chair, Fabricius, MYchair, Vostra and Turtle – all reinterpreted in black. Matching glass tables are also available.
Prime Time is a sofa designed by Eoos that is both lightweight and opulent to look at. Comprised of a range of variants (individual, add-on and corner solutions), it just takes two easy steps to swivel into the récamière.
Living Landscape 740, designed by Eoos, combines exceptional comfort, craftsmanship and aesthetics. Precise seams draw the contours of the upholstery while the ultra-soft cushions create an inviting display. For varying perspectives, the 740 line also comes with corner elements that can be turned and striking easy chairs, inviting chaise lounges and footstools round off the extendible range.
George, designed by Eoos, is a new variant of the classic cantilever that is minimalist, lightweight and stackable.
Soft Low is a padded easy chair that combines sculptural appeal with unbelievable coziness. Designed by Mika Tolvanen, it has a wooden frame and foam body and is available in two sizes with matching ottomans.
FM chair is an easy chair designed by formmodul. The outside is characterized by the specifically designed space dividing the seat from the back while the inside surfaces are turned toward the user to ensure optimal comfort. It has a round tubular steel frame and upholstered seat, backrest and sides.
