USM was founded in 1885 as a metalworking and locksmith’s business by Ulrich Schaerer. The factory and headquarters were built in Munsingen, Switzerland, where they remain to this day. Swiss manufacturing is synonymous with precision, quality and dependability. The USM Haller system, made up of metal panels and steel tubes joined by a connecting ball joint, has offered endless possibilities for installations for more than 50 years.

Since USM’s very beginning, sustainable development has been a keystone of their business. USM has been rewarded with the prestigious Greenguard chemical and particle emission certification and the Cradle To Cradle certification for the development of upcyclable products.
