NVL TABLE
A mono-material table, with contemporary lines and characterized by a strong personality.
The distinctive features of Jean Nouvel’s architecture are fully manifested in this table and enhance the stylistic elements that have always distinguished his work: pure geometric shapes, formal lightness, graphic lines, rigour.
The simplicity of the shapes harmoniously dialogues with the solidity of the material and plays with contrasts: the tabletop appears thin and light and seems floating above the base.
The central support is composed of two volumes that thin upwards and create two symmetrical bases that support the top, thus recalling the principle of trilith, a structure consisting of two vertical elements supporting a third element set horizontally across the top.
NVL Table becomes part of the MDF Italia collection, enriching the tables collection and offering a new solution for domestic and contract environments.
Simple and elegant, thanks to its round shape it encourages the conviviality among guests in dining rooms or living rooms. In its oval shape it fits perfectly in contract and working contexts, such as executive offices, meeting and representative rooms, encouraging the exchange of ideas between the participants. Whether in the lacquered, glossy or matt version or in the materic variants in reconstructed black Ebony and white Carrara marble or reconstructed stone, NVL Table reveals its extreme elegance in any environment.
Today, NVL Table extends its range with a new dimension: the two symmetrical bases are spaced apart to support a 3-metre top.
The new version fits with ease into large living rooms, meeting rooms, executive offices and all those environments where gathering many people around a table is the order of the day.
DIMENSIONS AND TYPES
Each table mounts bases of different sizes and types: round model in the diameters 59.05 inches or 70.86 inches, or oval model W 78.74, W 98.42 or 118.11 inches, are also available. Table height, 29.13 inches.
FINISHES
The bases, undertop flange and top are always monochromatic, lacquered or faced with the application of 3 mm slabs, in the variants:
• matte lacquer in white, black and red;
• glossy lacquer (polyester) in white, black, red, coral red, dune, blue navy and English green;
• materials in the variants reconstructed stone Serena, reconstructed stone white Calce, black slate, yellow onyx, pink onyx, red brick and sage green.

Designer
Jean Nouvel born in Fumel, France, 1945.
After he enrolled at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux, Jean Nouvel ranked first in the entrance examination of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1966 and obtained his degree in 1972. Assistant to the architect Claude Parent and inspired by urban planner and essayist Paul Virilio, he started his first architecture practice in 1970. Soon afterwards, he became a founding member of the “Mars 1976” Movement whose purpose was to oppose the architects’corporatism and then a founder of French Architecture Union. His strong stances and somewhat provocative opinions on contemporary architecture in the urban context together with his unfailing ability to inject originality into all the projects he undertakes have formed his international image.
His works have gained world-wide recognition through numerous prestigious French and International prizes and rewards. In 1989, The Arab World Institute in Paris was awarded the Aga-Khan Prize because of its role as “a successful bridge between French and Arab cultures”. In 2000, Jean Nouvel received the Lion d’Or of the Venice Biennale. In 2001, he received three of the highest international awards: the Royal Gold Medal of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the Praemium Imperial of Japan’s Fine Arts Association and the Borromini Prize for the Culture and Conference Center in Lucerne. He was appointed Docteur Honoris Causa of the Royal College of Art in London en 2002. Three years later, he received the annual prize of the Wolf Foundation in Israel “for providing a new model of contextualism and redefining the dialectic between the two salient characteristics of contemporary architecture: concreteness and ephemerality”. The Agbar Tower in Barcelona was awarded the International Highrise Award 2006 in Frankfurt, “as it makes an outstanding contribution to the current debate on high-rises”. Jean Nouvel was the recipient of the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 2008. In France, he received many prizes including the Gold Medal of the French Academy of Architecture, two Equerres d’Argent and National Grand Prize for Architecture.

In the field of design, Jean Nouvel made his first furniture projects in 1987 as part of Via’s “Carte Blanche” series.
Later, he developed several collections in conjunction with his architectural projects, including the Elementary chair for the Congress Centre of Tours (Matteo Grassi, Arflex 2015), the Saint James armchair (produced today by Ligne Roset) for the hotel Saint James Bouilliac, the Figueras theatre chairs for the Opera de Lyon, and the Less tables and shelves were designed for Unifor and the Foundation Cartier in Paris (redeveloped in aluminium in 2013 under the name of Less Less), Vienna sofa for the Sofitel hotel in Vienna (Wittmann, 2011), etc.
To expand his concentration on design, Jean Nouvel created the company Jean Nouvel Design (JND) in 1995.

In the field of interior design and scenography, Jean Nouvel Design started with the exhibition space « Camion Inox in 1990.

In October 2016, Jean Nouvel Design showcased in « avant-première » Simple, a prefab house designed forRevolution Precrafted during the « Fiac Hors les Murs” in Paris.
Parallèlement, Jean Nouvel was invited by the musée des Arts décoratifs to present, for the first time, his work as a designer (Jean Nouvel, mes meubles d’architecte).
