Matéria Side Table

Designed 2021/2024
The Matéria low board / occasional table series is characterised by its special dimensions and calm aura. The concave, organically shaped tabletop evokes an intuitive desire to stroke its surface and feel its natural texture. What was originally a purely experimental design by German designer Christian Haas has been developed into a trio in collaboration with ClassiCon. Matéria is available in three different sizes and in three different finishes. Individually or in combination, these handcrafted low boards are characterised by their materiality and demonstrate how sensuous a minimalist approach can be. In addition to the versions made of natural or indigo-stained, open-pored travertine in combination with light ash wood, the series is also available in a deep black version with a tabletop made of high-quality Nero Marquina marble and a frame made of black lacquered ash wood. The black marble version has the presence and constancy of a sculpture and exudes a luxurious flair. The natural marbling of the high-sheen, impregnated natural stone makes each piece unique. Both versions of Matéria – travertine or marble – are captivating in their own unique way with their incomparable, natural look, which is reminiscent of an abstract painting.
