Additional System

Designed 2024
Modules with unconventional shapes breathe life into unique seating configurations, where aggregation and variability are at the forefront. "Additional System," originally conceived by Joe Colombo in 1967, has been reimagined by Tacchini, maintaining its original spirit—a modular system with timeless allure, still exuding a "futuristic" feel even after 50 years. The system features cushions of six different sizes, inspired by ergonomic studies from the 1960s, which can be dynamically and flexibly combined by adjusting the number of elements and their positioning. "Additional System" is available in armchair, pouf, and daybed versions.

Designer

Joe Colombo’s design approach was always future-facing, opting to focus on lasting innovation rather than fleeting trends. His style was typically shaped by material experimentation and a pronounced emphasis on functionality. Colombo envisaged furniture that could stand independent of the architecture that surrounded it – chameleonic pieces that could adapt to suit any space, at any time. With its refined materiality, gently retro look, and inviting comfort, GUBI’s edition of the Basket Collection brings that vision to life.
