Designer
Jader Almeida was born in 1981 in Santa Catarina in southern Brazil. At the age of 16 he already started gaining practical experience working in the local furniture industry. He later studied architecture and urban planning and then took a job with Lin Brasil, which manufactures furniture conceived by well-known Brazilian architects and designers.
Working with typical Brazilian woods and types of leather proved seminal for Almeida’s future designs. He began developing his own exclusive products in 2004, initially for Sollos in Santa Catarina. Almeida has since then received a number of prestigious Brazilian and international design awards. Today he works as both product designer and architect, with his own studio in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina.
Jader Almeida: “It is my aim to create products of enduring value, drawing on the legacy of the great masters while always looking ahead and knowing that today’s decisions will have an impact on tomorrow. Rationality, simple geometry and attention to every detail help to create products with a timeless aesthetic.”
