Mia Lounge Seat

Designed 2024
Following the successful launch of the modular sofa of the same name last year, the focus now turns to an independent piece of furniture: the Mia armchair. Created by German designer Ilja Huber, the armchair incorporates the signature backrests, reminiscent of large cushions that envelop and support the sitter.

In the armchair, the two side backrests merge seamlessly with the main backrest to form a single unit. Comfort remains a priority: paired with a matching ottoman, the armchair offers the same seat height as the sofa, making it easy to combine with the modular pieces in the collection. With its integrated swivel function and high-quality upholstery, Mia is perfect for smaller rooms or cozy reading corners, while the ottoman adds extra comfort.

Designer

Designing products that are clear and self-explanatory. That’s the aspiration Ilja Huber pursues. After training as a tool-maker, Huber did an M.A. in product and experimental design at the University of Fine Arts (HFBK) in Hamburg. Ha-ving gained professional experience at the Mykilos and kaschkasch design studios in Berlin and Cologne respectively, he created a number of his own projects and international trade-show exhibitions, receiving his first award in the Pure Talents Contest 2019. Ilja Huber sees the origins of his approach to design in handcrafting and industrial manufacturing. For Schönbuch, he has created BEAM, a purist floor-standing mirror.
