Nena Chair

Designed 2020

Armchair. Steel frame varnished graphite or matt black. Seat and cushion upholstered with polyurethane, backrest upholstered with self-extinguishing polyurethane foam. Removable fabric or leather cover.

The story of Nena is that of a dynamic iconic armchair, recognisable by the contrast between the minimal structure and the comfortable and generous seat size. An object born from an investigation into comfort, which reinterprets the typical female characteristics of balance, softness and dynamism.

Removable cover in leather or fabric thanks to the zip concealed by a rouche that outlines the elegant roundness of the backrest. Nena relays the comfort of an armchair into a small table armchair, ideal for the home and relaxation, but also for a work environment or restaurant, continually creating new narratives

Lanzavecchia + Wai is a creative collaboration between Francesca Lanzavecchia (Pavia, 1983) and Hunn Wai (London, 1980).

To them, being designers means being researchers, engineers, craftsmen and storytellers all at the same time. They began their cooperation at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, Holland, under the supervision of Gijs Bakker, co-founder of Droog Design.

Lanzavecchia is focused on the relationship objects have and can have with the human body and soul as well as having a fervent eye for future trends. Wai is fascinated by the collisions and fusions of materials, meanings, and forms.

Design projects to them are research journeys characterized by the pursuit and selective employment of different design disciplines and professional competences, to be curated, cross-bred and nurtured into concepts and products that propose possibilities and inspire new perspectives.

The design studio based both in Italy and Singapore was officially established in 2010.Their work spans from limited editions to mass products for various companies to special projects for major brands and international museums.

They received many awards including that in the category “Young Design Talent of the Year” by Elle Décor International Design Awards in 2014.

They have been working with Zanotta since 2020.
